BRADLEY FAIR ONE OF 50-75 NEW
JOS. A. BANK STORES PLANNED IN 2004
(WICHITA, KS) – A 99-year-old menswear retailer renowned for classic detailing,
workmanship and customer service has added Wichita’s Bradley Fair to its
expansion plans for 2004. Jos. A. Bank will open a full-line menswear store
this spring next to Backwoods, in the space formerly occupied by Zany Brainy,
says Cathy Erickson, vice president of Laham Development, developer of Bradley
Fair.
According to David Ullman, the company’s executive
vice president/chief financial officer, the company’s catalog and
Internet business indicates an interest for Jos. A. Bank’s product
in the Wichita area. Jos. A. Bank offers formalwear, ties, business
casual, weekend wear, shoes and accessories. Approximately 28%
of its business is suits, and it is one of the few companies in
the world to offer customers the opportunity to build a suit by
purchasing separates.
Among the company’s most popular items, soon to
be available at the Bradley Fair store, is a wrinkle-resistant
shirt, an all-cotton dress shirt developed for frequent travelers
which can be unpacked, hung and is ready-to-wear. This same innovation
has also been incorporated into sport shirts, chinos and dress
slacks. Ullman noted that the retailer opened 50 new stores in
2003 and is planning 50-75 for 2004. Jos. A. Bank currently has
210 stores across the U.S.
Erickson noted that the store will complement
Bradley Fair’s other fashion retailers. “We believe Jos. A. Bank
will bring an added dimension to the existing men’s clothing retailers
at the center. Our customers will appreciate their style, quality
and attention to service.”
A project of Laham Development, Bradley Fair opened
in November 1990 and recently celebrated the debut of its 48th
store, Ultimate Electronics. An 8,000-sq. ft. building nearing
completion in front of Bed Bath & Beyond will bring the center to 263,000-sq. ft., and will accommodate one to
three additional stores.
As Wichita’s only lifestyle center, Bradley Fair
offers a blend of local, regional and national retail concepts
that currently includes eight restaurants and 40 stores. Among
the focal points of the center is a scenic open-air plaza that
hosts a variety of community and charitable events and fireworks
displays. The plaza area features a year-round fountain, two island
waterfalls, a lake, extensive landscaping and tiered seating.
Throughout the summer months Bradley Fair’s plaza
is host to a mix of national, regional, and local entertainment
during its annual concerts, presented free of charge to the community.
Soon to enter its fifth season, approximately 25,000 attended the
2003 concerts which featured eight musical events from June through
August. The July 4 concert features a spectacular aerial fireworks
display over Bradley Fair lake.
Project architect for Bradley Fair is Shelden
Architecture. J.P. Weigand & Sons is exclusive leasing agent for Bradley Fair.
